How Do Funnels Work

Sales funnels are the lifeblood of the website or ecommerce business that hopes to sell a product or service online. If you have any online business that sells anything at all, then the process that the customer will go through from finding the product to placing it in the shopping cart is known as the sales funnel.

This funnel setup is fairly standard stuff and not at all a new concept to the web developer, however for the ‘uninitiated’ the whole idea of a ‘sales funnel’ is a new to them – and maybe a little scary if they are trying to set up their own funnel.

Traditionally a sales funnel could be added to your WordPress site even without a knowledge of html or coding. However, you still need to set up an ecommerce site in the first place and invoke the likes of ‘woocommerce’ or equivalent to put the thing in place.

All-in-all this can be a daunting process if you are not used to it, and you need to have a theme that can handle the shopping cart installed on your wordpress site.

The newer and better way to set up a sales funnel is by using the services of Clickfunnels®

30 day challenge

Their software hosts everything on their own server – eliminating the need for your own website – and the funnels can be adapted to promote anything from a bricks-and-mortar shop, to an ecommerce or affiliate program. There really is are limits, even consulting webinars can be easily set up with Clickfunnels.

So what does it do? The main idea behind a funnel is that it is ‘laser targeted’ to get your prospect to the cart, without confusing them with a whole load of other options. If a customer is confused then they will simply click away and the potential sale with them.

This is where most websites fall down. There are too many offers or options available to the buyer and so in a confused mind they will click away, maybe with the intention of coming back again, but they’re gone.

The funnel on the other hand is specifically crafted to offer just a few items -all related, and many times just the one item and an ‘upsell’.

Funnels work by collecting leads, usually in exchange for something free like an info pdf doc. These leads are a potential gold mine for your business, as they say “the money is in the list” This is a mega-important aspect with Clickfunnels. Collect leads always, if you really want to build your business for the long term.

Funnels are excellent for building lists as well as selling products or promoting your bricks-and-mortar shop.

A funnel can be used as a ‘stand alone’ site to promote your business or any individual aspect of your business, and there is no limit to the amount of pages you can add to your clickfunnels sales funnel.

So, that is how funnels work – they are a very efficient tool for collecting leads and making sales.
